Shaking their groove thang!

Last night I went with a few friends to a bar to see our friend’s band play.  We’ve gone to this place many times and there is always an eclectic crowd and usually there are some dancers.  Last night, however, we reached an all time high on the Freak-O-Meter when it came to our rug cutters.

Couple #1: Fred and Ginger*

This lovely couple featured a lady & gentleman in the age range of 87-112 but in their peak of good health and agility.  Ginger was all dolled up with her fancy hair-do and nice black dress (sophisticated yet sassy) and metallic gold sandals (over her sheer stockings).  Fred was in his best button down shirt and some very smart slacks.  Clearly this couple has been dancing together for many years and they had some great moves – which include managing to waltz to Superstitious

Couple #2:  Fabio and Tiffany*

Note going to let themselves be out shined by Fred & Ginger, Fabio & Tiffany stepped up to the plate.  Fabio, as I’m sure you are picturing, has long blond hair in a ponytail and is wearing a Johnny Cash-style ensemble.  Tiffany has donned her all black outfit as well which she paired with bone colored shoes.  Her skirt was mid-calf and had multiple slits in it so when she twirled (which she did) one might lose and eye.  More dangerous than her skirt was her silver chain belt circa 1987 and could be seen on a suave guy wearing Z. Cavaricci pants.   These two were S.E.R.I.O.U.S. dancers.  They never broke eye-contact even when she was fully extended from him in a fancy spin move.

Couple #3:  Awkward Joe & Cindi*

You all know Awkward Joe (AJ).  He’s 6′ 8″, 112 lbs., jean up to above his belly button and the pant legs hitting the tops of his socks, black sneakers and white socks, polo-style shirt tucked into the jeans.  He has that I-used-to-have-a-mullet-but-now-I’m-sportin’-the-….mullet-look.  Cindy was in her finest acid was jeans and black pumps…. not the fancy point-toed pumps that look good with jeans, rather her Payless rounded-toed sling backs with a chunky heel.  She also had on a belt.  This belt, however, was over her shirt.  It was a tight white tank top that just hit the waist of her pants and to accentuate the muffin top she had this elastic belt.   AJ moved a little slower than the beat of the music with moves that resembled using a pogo stick and Cindi moved slightly faster than the beat striking all of us with fear that she may shake something loose.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Last, but certainly not least, we had Chaz.

All I can say about Chaz was he was about 73, tinted glasses with dark plastic frames and a shiny black track suite with a white stripe down the side.  Oh, and white sneakers.   ‘Nuff said.

*note: all names have been changed to protect these folks’ identity. Except Chaz.  I’m pretty sure his name was Chaz….had to be.

  1. Hahahaha what bar was this????

  2. Never laughed so hard at work! Of course, I did spend most of my weekend imitiating those listed above, much to the enjoyment of my family. Next, time I tell you that I am looking to expand my “man” horizon, I get to pick the place 🙂

  3. That is hilarious! Hooray for Fred and Ginger still shakin’ what they got. I love Chaz. And AJ and Cindi really need to come into this century with the rest of us.

  4. […] So with that, I give you a second installment of people watching (for the first installment, go here). […]

  5. […] me to my third installment of the people I’ve seen.  You can check out the previous ones here and […]
