Christmas fun

It’s 2 days after Christmas, but I didn’t experience that day-after-let-down.  I used to feel that once all the gifts were opened and the food was eaten and, recently, once we left my parents’ house.  But not this year (or last year for that matter).  It was a wonderful few days away with my family.  Here are some of the highlights:

~ Having an exciting and exhausting Christmas Eve with my parents, my sister and her family.

~ Watching the thrill in Evan’s eyes when he saw on the tags that the presents were for “E-V-A-N, that’s my name!”

~ My dad trying to tell Evan that the present marked for “Vinny” was for daddy.  Evan’s response: “But there are 3 D’s in daddy.”

~ Matthew’s face lighting up whenever my dad picked him up.

~ The boys heading home to wait for Santa….phew! Finally a break for the adults!

~ Watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation for the 97th time and laughing just as hard as I did the first time.

~ Sleeping at “home” on Christmas Eve and waking up in my parents’ house.

~ Spending all day opening gifts – even though there weren’t tons, we still managed to drag it out.

~ Laughing.  A lot.

~ Being genuinely surprised when I opened a gift that I knew I was getting.

~ Seeing how happy Wade was with the presents I chose for him.

~ The food….oh, the food.

It was a wonderful Christmas and I’m looking forward to next year already.  Except maybe Wade and I will arrive later on Christmas Eve – especially since there will be more activity next year with Matthew being a toddler.  I don’t know if I’d be standing at the end of the day!

  1. I’m glad to hear you had a nice Christmas! I have 3 nephews under 6 and while they make Christmas so much more exciting and fun (and loud!), gosh they wear me out!

I always laugh at NL Christmas Vacation too.

  2. I still had the letdown even though my day was great too. What do you think made this Christmas different in this aspect?

  3. Aww i understand “LOUD” in my house! Three boys! they just get louder every year! Glad to hear it was a great holiday!
